    Wartburg, KwaZulu Natal

The subject property known as Little Spring Farm, provides a unique opportunity for agricultural investors to establish themselves in the ever-expanding goat industry. The demand for goats is high not only for consumption but also for ceremonial purposes across multiple cultures and faiths. As per the seller, The province of KwaZulu-Natal is the largest consumer market for goats in South Africa. The total annual consumption in this province is estimated at about 1.7 million animals. Of these, only about 600 000 are produced in the province. The balance of more than one million animals is imported from other provinces in South Africa, as well as from Namibia. (Also, article on page 40 of the 2019 IVG Journal issued by the Indigenous Veld Goat Breeders Society of South Africa).
Little Spring Farm provides the ideal opportunity for agricultural enthusiasts to capitalize on the above-mentioned scenario.

The farm is located ±8km outside of Wartburg off the Schroeders Road and has been developed for both sugar cane and goat production. The ±45,6 hectare farm is comprised of ±30 hectares of sugar cane, well though-out handling facilities, ±13 hectares of grazing veld, sheds and storage facilities, water infrastructure including 10 jojo tanks and 160 000l resivoir, as well as a house and a rondavel. The yard is secured by a well-maintained electric fence. Every aspect of the farm has been meticulously planned and executed. Coupled with the existing set up is the potential to grow the operation through a phased approach into a substantial productive unit encompassing the management of an estimated 600 breeding ewes.

Currently the are 149 breeding ewes, 85 maidens, 2 breeding rams, and followers that will form part of the sale. Wartburg is an agricultural town located ±27km north east of Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu-Natal. All amenities including schools, hospitals, shops, and farm supplies are found in both Wartburg and Pietermaritzburg.
