Frequently Asked Questions

What types of property do you auction?

We handle the sale of commercial, industrial, retail, agricultural and residential real estate nationwide, as well as the ability to dispose of international properties. We also handle development land, portfolios and specialised assets such as hospitality or healthcare facilities.

Are auctions only for distressed properties?

Absolutely not. While auctions can assist with time-sensitive disposals, they are equally suited to premium and fully-let investments, trophy assets and redevelopment opportunities, where competition often drives values above sellers’ expectations.

Do you run live or online auctions?

Both. All catalogued lots are offered in our hybrid format: a live saleroom with simultaneous online bidding via our secure platform, giving sellers maximum exposure and buyers complete flexibility.

How do I register to bid?

Complete our simple online registration form and upload your FICA documents. You can also register in person at the auction venue. A refundable registration deposit is required to activate your paddle or online account.

Can I bid if I’m outside South Africa?

Yes – international buyers are welcome. Our team will guide you through the process.

What bidding methods are available?

  • Online bidding in real time
  • Traditional in-room bidding
  • Telephone bidding (pre-arranged)
  • Proxy bids lodged in advance

What deposit is payable when I win a lot?

On the fall of the hammer you will sign the Rules of Auction & Conditions of Sale and pay a deposit and commission, which varies per transaction.

Are there any other costs for buyers?

Transfer duty or VAT (as applicable), conveyancing fees, and municipal clearance charges are for the purchaser’s account. These are the same costs you would incur in a private-treaty transaction.

Can I buy subject to finance?

Yes, but the sale is unconditional. You must still pay the deposit on the day and complete within the stipulated time frame, whether or not your bank finance is in place. We therefore advise arranging funding beforehand.

Why should I sell my property at auction rather than by private treaty?

  • Speed – a fixed sale date and swift completion
  • Certainty – unconditional contract once the hammer falls
  • Transparency – open bidding creates trust
  • Competitive price discovery – buyers bid against each other, not against your asking price

Can I set a reserve price?

Yes. Your reserve is confidential and agreed in writing before marketing commences.

What costs do sellers incur?

Our fee structure is fully disclosed at instruction and typically covers marketing, photography and due-diligence collation. All costs are confirmed in your mandate, so there are no surprises.

How will you market my property?

We employ a national multimedia campaign: digital portals, targeted e-mailers, paid social media, print advertising, direct calls to our investor database and on-site signage. High-value or sensitive assets may also appear in our invitation-only Dealroom

What happens if the property does not reach its reserve?

We will negotiate immediately with the highest bidder.

Where can I find the legal pack?

Every property includes a downloadable pack with Title Deed, Zoning etc if applicable.

Can I view the property?

Viewings will be facilitated by our sales team.
