This livestock and irrigation farm, with a total extent of ±1740ha, is located along the Great Kei River and has easy access off the N2, ±35km South of Butterworth. The farm is comprised of ±1680ha of grazing (predominatly sweetveld) ideal for cattle, goats, and game as well as ±60ha of arable land under drag line irrigation. A further ±40ha can be developed as arable lands under irrigation.
There are currently three irrigation points on the deep and fertile lands along the banks of the Great Kei River. Water is pumped out of the river by means of three electric pumps. Crops that have been grown include cabbage, butternuts, lucerne, maize, teff, braz grass, pepperdews, oats etc. The farm is at the gateway to the Transkei and Ciskei fresh produce markets.
There is a solar water scheme, backed up by the Komga / Kei River water scheme, providing drinking water for livestockstock and game. Water is piped to 52 water points across the farm. The estimated carrying capacity of the veld is 4ha/LSU and the seller suggests an average rainfall of ±600mm per annum. Infrastructure consists of an implement shed, an office, and a workshop. There are also staff housing amenities, cattle handling facilities, and a plunge dip.
Power supply is three phase Escom.
Over and above it’s agricultural potenital, the farm boasts incredible views of the Great Kei River Valley and presents an ideal landscape for mountain biking , trail runs , and 4x4 routes. There are also fantastic fishing spots along the ±12km river of river frontage. Game on the farm includes Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Blesbuck, Bushbuck, Duikers, Mountain Reedbuck, Warthogs presenting further opportunity for the development of a game farm.
