Locality

The Kinsburgh Commercial & Industrial Park is well located a kilometre from the N2 Kingsburgh offramp. The Park is accessed from the N2 along the R603 (Main Road) turning in an easterly direction into Uitsig Road which leads directly to the Park entrance. The site is located adjacent to extensive residential zones and will serve as the gateway to the planned PPP development with provisional government and local auto manufacturers of the ± 1 000 Ha Illovo Precinct. The Illovo area has been designated a key development area by local, provincial and national government. The area is of noted importance in the provincial government’s plans to adhere to the National Development Plan 2030 and the Department of Trade and Industries’ Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP).

A key characteristic of the site is that it borders the ± 1 000 Ha site procured by the KZN provincial government for the development of the Illovo Auto Supply Park (ASP) project. This project is a strategic economic priority for both national and provincial government. The ASP Project is listed as a key or direct response to the Presidential Infrastructure Programme (SIP), which eThekwini Municipality has been identified as being a major benefactor through the Port development, Dube Trade Port and the proposed Cato Ridge Industrial Hub. The KZN Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) also identified the need to strengthen the manufacturing sector within KZN, and eThekwini in particular, because of a strong manufacturing sector is propelled by the Durban Port.

The Illovo site was purchased by Dube Tradeport Company and the site has been designated a Special Economic Zone. The project was finalised with the assistance of Toyota South Africa. The former CEO of Toyota SA, Johan van Zyl, emphasized the proximity of the supplier park to the existing Toyota manufacturing facilities as being the key factor in identifying the Illovo site as being best suited for the development.

THE AVAILABLE SITES

There are currently three sites available for purchase.
Site 1 – This site is ideally located at the entrance to the park and is the first site as you enter the Park. The site is ± 6 830 m2 in extent and is fully serviced. This site is easily accessed within the park.

Site 2 & 3 – These sites are ± 4 831 m² & ± 3 366 m² respectively. These sites have the added advantage of lying adjacent to one another. They can be combined to form one larger site. These sites are easily accessed and lie towards the eastern boundary of the Park. The Kingsburgh Industrial Park has a total development size of ± 70 000 m² and provides ample power with a 7000 KVA supply. The Park has seen a positive uptake from the market, only three sites remain of an original 9 sites.
